Runcord uses the minimum information needed to create your account, recommend nearby routes, record an activity you start, and connect that activity with the audio you chose. We do not sell your personal information.

1. What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how Runcord (“Runcord,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Runcord iPhone app, runcord.net, and related support services (together, the “Service”).

2. Information we collect

Account information

We collect your email address to create and secure your account, send verification and password-reset codes, and communicate about account or support matters. Runcord does not ask for your birth date during sign-up and does not offer telephone-number or social-network sign-in.

Location and activity information

When you ask for nearby routes, Runcord processes your device location to find nearby parks and calculate pedestrian access. When you start a run or walk, the app collects GPS points, distance, time, pace, pauses, and related session data. Background location is used only while an activity you started remains active, subject to your device permissions.

Listening information

We record the podcast episode, news item, or music selection associated with an activity, along with listening duration and playback state needed to create your activity record. Apple Music playback and account access are also governed by Apple’s terms and privacy practices.

Diagnostics

We may collect limited technical events such as playback start, failure type, and start delay to improve reliability. These diagnostic events are designed not to include your email address, precise location, audio title, password, verification code, or authentication token.

Website information

Our website hosting provider may process standard request data such as IP address, browser type, requested page, time, and security logs to deliver and protect the site. The current marketing site does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

3. How we use information

  • Provide email verification, sign-in, password recovery, and account security.
  • Find nearby parks, calculate access routes, and show reviewed loop information when available.
  • Record, sync, and display your runs, walks, listening history, and mission progress.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Service.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.

4. When information is shared

We share information only as needed with service providers that help us operate the Service, such as cloud hosting, identity, mapping, route calculation, content delivery, and email delivery providers. They may process information only for the services they provide to us. Podcast publishers, RSS hosts, Apple, and other content providers receive requests according to their own services and policies.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the Service, or as part of a business transaction where legally permitted. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Storage, security, and retention

Runcord uses access controls, encrypted network connections, managed identity services, and separate production resources intended to protect account and activity information. No service can guarantee absolute security.

We retain account and activity information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and protect security. Short-lived route caches and diagnostic records may follow shorter operational retention periods.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Location: Change location permissions in iOS Settings. Nearby route and GPS recording features may not work without location access.
  • Apple Music: Change media permissions in iOS Settings and disconnect access through your Apple settings where available.
  • Access or correction: Contact us to request access to or correction of personal information, subject to verification and applicable law.
  • Delete your account: In the app, open Profile, choose Delete Account, and confirm. The deletion process removes Runcord activity records tied to your authenticated account before deleting the account identity. You may also contact support for help.

Residents of certain U.S. states and Canadian provinces may have additional rights, including access, correction, deletion, or appeal rights. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

7. Younger users

Runcord does not use an age-based sign-up restriction or request a birth date. If you believe personal information involving a younger user has been handled improperly, contact us so we can review and respond as required by applicable law.

8. International processing

The Service is initially intended for users in the United States and Canada. Information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate, subject to applicable safeguards.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will post the new effective date here and provide additional notice when required by law.
